By clicking here you can find a link to the implementation part of my Wicked Project. I have begun to play around with iMovie in trying to figure out the features my students could use. I put together a simple video of the last year of my teaching to show how iMovie can be used.
Below is a standalone for the podcast to listen to directly from the blog site.
I can understand your initial trepidations when trying to use a new program for video editing in the classroom. I think that your choice of going with imovie is a very good decision. As you describe it is easy to use and very functional. It was designed to be simple and intuitive for anyone, even kids to use. I hope it all works out well for you!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris that iMovie is a good choice for the classroom. Windows Movie Maker is what I use because it allows a lot more customization and advanced features, but for younger students iMovie is definitely more accessible.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that iMovie seems to be a good choice for your classroom. I've used it occasionally in the past and am a Mac person myself, but PCs are much more readily available where I teach. Just as a side note, I have found in the past that utilizing students who are more tech savvy helps alleviate some of the questions (especially for larger class sizes). Have you considered taking a "technology" inventory prior to this project to see how confident your students feel in regards to using technology and video? That way, those students who select "very comfortable" could be used as a starting point for creating groups. Or, are you allowing students to create their own groups?
